Here are three new paintings. About them, Bennett says: "As you know, I have been using triangles of late. One day the triangles made me think of pyramids and while thinking of pyramids I thought of the shaft in one of the great pyramids leading to the chamber within. The next think I knew I was making these new paintings."

Three Paintings, June-July 2011

Here are three new paintings. Of them, Bennett says: "My paintings are generally truly abstract and have no conscious real world 'inspiration' behind them, but the painting called Fracture actually did come out of [a real world experience]. The other two began when I wanted to explore the little triangle that appears in the painting Little Gee 3 [shown below]." Click images to view them in larger size.

Quilt Paintings

"These four paintings grew out of responses I had to seeing an extraordinary show of quilts at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington a few years ago. The quilts were made by women living in an isolated community in rural Alabama called Gee's Bend."
